Karin Holmström
"An artwork should evoke emotions," says Karin.
She explores in her creation, delving into what it means to be human in our world. Her subjects revolve around human strength, daring, and trust, inspired by wild animals and a love for preserving them after being an exchange student and visiting Kruger National Park in South Africa.
Karin is constantly evolving and doesn't stop until the feeling is there. The subjects vary, depending on focus and surroundings. It's rather the colors, impulses, the direct feeling, and power that characterize Karin's style. She calls it figurative abstract: "A piece mustn't be too finished; it should continue with the viewer, like a book you read and create your own images for," she says. Thanks to the many layers of color, a sculptural painting where the colors blend together, they never become intrusive but leave a harmonious yet strong expression.
A life crisis led Karin deeper into painting, taking her passion seriously. She has received significant attention for her expression both in Sweden and abroad, exhibiting in Paris, Hong Kong, London, Amsterdam, Milan, and Brussels. She has been living off her painting full-time since 2016, showcasing her art on TV, donating at major charity galas, lecturing at Rival's stage, painting live at the Nobel Night Cap, and engaging in many collaborations and exhibitions. She also coaches and supports other artists and is passionate about the power of creativity.
Karin has written and published the book "Fearless - The Art of Living Creatively," describing how she tapped into her longing to live in art and the steps toward the dream that became a reality. The book has become very popular, selling over 1000 copies and also being printed in English.
